Rice for Ants

Rice for Ants
1/31/05
Getting up in the morning, before getting dressed, Lily picked off a piece of dried rice from her shirt and asked me: "Mommy, can I give it to ants?"

"What to you want to give to ants? Oh, your rice?" I was laughing inside that she could find some treasure from her shirt. "Sure" I said.

"Where can I put it?"

"Oh, you can leave it in the park. Ants will find it."

"OK." She uses her two fingers holding on to the rice.
After 20 minutes, I noticed her still holding the rice while dressing and drinking water. And she wouldn't put it down!

Another few minutes passed before we finally walk out together with Naniko going to their daycare. The moment we got out of the building, Lily asked me, "Can I put it on the ground now?"

I totally forgot about it!!! "Sure." I said and find a nice spot on the grass. She happily and carefully put it down, and walked away, with great hope that some ants will find her dear present.

3/16/2005, 1 ½ month later…

Guess what, on our way to see Dr. Hertz, Lily remembered something:
"Did the ants get the rice, mommy?"
"What?" I was a bit at lost.
"Did the ants get the rice I picked from my shirt?"
"Oh, yes. The ants were very happy, and want to say 'Thank you!' " I said, not expecting that she would still remember.
"And I say 'You're welcome!' " She seems so happy…

I Feel Like a Queen...

I Feel Like a Queen :-) !!!

01/11/05

These days since my parents are here with me, I don't have to rush home to pick up Lily from daycare. Ends up, I often get home late. Oftentimes, they'd have all finished dinner when I get home.

Tonight, I got home a little early, before 7pm. They were all in the kitchen having dinner. Mom is still finishing up cooking the last dish.

The girls were happy to see me. Lily got up and said:
"Oh, Mommy!!! I want to kiss you!"
"Ok. But let me wash my hands first." I said.
"Let me help you..." Lily came to me, putting her had towards my coat buttons. Then she saw me trying to take off shoes.
"Let me take off your shoes." She went down to the floor, grab my shoes before I have a chance to say anything.
"Oh... n... well, you are making your hands dirty holding shoes like that..." I said. "Let's go wash hands..."
"Oh, let me turn on the water for you." she rush ahead of me towards the bathroom.

I took off the coat and didn't have enough time to put it down, when Nana came over to hug me.  I hugged and kissed her and picked her up for a spin. She was giggling.  Lily was calling me to wash hands by now.  I put down Nana and walked to the bathroom.  Lily turned on water and ask me "Is it warm enough, Mommy?"...

Sure it is.  :-)  I feel like a Queen!!!
